Disney+ releases Pompeii documentary series narrated by Tom Hiddleston

Disney+ has added the National Geographic documentary series ‘Pompeii: Beyond Time’ to its catalog. The series reconstructs the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which buried the Roman city of Pompeii.

Narrated by actor Tom Hiddleston, the production utilizes history and technology alongside insights from archaeologists, geologists, and disaster management specialists. The documentary aims to challenge the long-held belief that all inhabitants died without a chance to escape, using recent findings to suggest many may have had opportunities to survive.

The narrative follows three real individuals based on archaeological discoveries: Lucius Avianius, an apprentice blacksmith; Julia Fenix, a business owner; and a Praetorian guard found at the beach of Herculaneum. The series explores daily life in ancient Rome through surviving artifacts, markets, and homes.
