Disney+ removes Premium imaging features amid patent dispute

Disney+ has removed several high-quality imaging technologies from its Premium subscription tier without reducing the monthly price. Following a commercial dispute with the American company InterDigital, the streaming platform has withdrawn support for Dolby Vision, HDR, and 4K Ultra HD.

These features were primary incentives for users to pay a higher monthly fee for the Premium tier compared to the standard version. While these technical enhancements have been phased out over recent months, the subscription cost remains unchanged, and no compensation for subscribers has been announced. The consumer organization Que Choisir has issued a formal notice regarding the matter.

Separately, the platform offers profile management tools to allow multiple users to maintain individual viewing histories, personalized recommendations, and parental controls within a single account.
