Disney+ to develop live-action ‘The Kane Chronicles’ series

Disney+ has announced it is developing a live-action series based on Rick Riordan’s Egyptian mythology trilogy, ‘The Kane Chronicles’. The project follows the author’s successful collaboration on ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’.

Riordan will serve as executive producer alongside his wife, Rebecca Riordan, and previous collaborators Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell. Angela Robinson, known for her work on ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ and ‘True Blood’, has been named showrunner. The series is being produced by 20th Television.

Based on the three-book series—‘The Red Pyramid’, ‘The Throne of Fire’, and ‘The Serpent’s Shadow’—the story follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane. After their father inadvertently unleashes the Egyptian god of chaos, Set, the siblings must master inherited magic and forge alliances to rescue him and prevent warring gods from impacting the modern world.
