Disney+ to develop ‘The Kane Chronicles’ series

Disney+ is developing a new series based on Rick Riordan’s book trilogy, ‘The Kane Chronicles’. Author Rick Riordan and writer Angela Robinson have been hired by 20th Century Television to co-create the adaptation.

Based on the books published between 2010 and 2012, the story follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane as they discover they are descendants of Egyptian magicians capable of hosting the spirits of gods. The plot involves the accidental release of Egyptian deities into the modern world.

The project follows the success of the ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ series on Disney+. While a previous film trilogy was in development at Netflix, those plans did not materialize, allowing the rights to revert to Riordan before being acquired by 20th Century Television.
