Disney+ introduces curated Playlists for continuous streaming

The Walt Disney Company is rolling out a new feature called Playlists for its Disney+ streaming service. This tool allows subscribers to watch curated collections of movies and television episodes grouped by genre, franchise, character, or mood, providing what the company describes as a “lean-back viewing experience.”

Instead of manually selecting each individual title, users can select a themed collection—such as Pixar movies, romantic comedies, or specific character groups like Mickey and Friends—and the content will play continuously. While the experience mimics a traditional television channel, users retain full playback controls, including the ability to pause, rewind, or skip titles.

Disney plans to introduce seasonal playlists throughout the year, with upcoming themes focused on Halloween. The rollout is global, though specific content availability may vary based on regional licensing rights. This update is part of a broader strategy to integrate Disney+ and Hulu more closely and reduce the time users spend searching for content.
