Disney+ updates terms to allow ads on all subscription tiers

Disney+ is updating its terms of use to allow advertising across all subscription tiers, including those marketed as “no ads” or “ad-free.” The company has begun notifying subscribers via email about these revised agreements.

Under the new terms, even premium subscribers may encounter promotional content, sponsorship elements, product integrations, or advertisements appearing before and after movies and series. Disney confirmed that these exceptions apply to live sports, special events, and third-party content. While the change does not necessarily mean traditional commercial breaks will interrupt on-demand playback every few minutes, it reframes the “ad-free” guarantee to include these built-in exceptions.

In Germany, subscribers have been prompted to accept the updated agreement. In Poland, the company has informed users that all plans may include promotional content, sponsorships, and ads around playback or during live broadcasts.
