Disney raises prices for Disney+ and Hulu streaming subscriptions

Disney has implemented a series of price increases for its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, primarily targeting ad-free tiers and bundles. The new rates, which took effect in late September, see standalone premium (ad-free) plans for both services rise by $2.50 to $21.49 per month, representing a roughly 13% increase.

Bundle pricing has also been adjusted. The ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle has increased by $2 to $21.99 per month. In contrast, the ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle remains unchanged at $12.99 per month. This pricing structure appears designed to incentivize consumers to opt for bundled packages rather than standalone services.

Ad-supported standalone plans for both Disney+ and Hulu saw a smaller increase of 50 cents, bringing them to $12.49 per month. The company is also adjusting prices for bundles involving ESPN. These changes reflect a broader industry trend of shifting from subscriber growth to maximizing revenue per user through increased monetization and advertising strategies.
