Disney vacationers face rising costs from record high airfares

Families planning vacations to Walt Disney World and Disneyland are facing rising costs, particularly regarding domestic airfare. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the average U.S. domestic airfare reached $445 in the second quarter of 2026, marking the highest unadjusted second-quarter fare on record. This represents a 4.1% increase from the first quarter of 2026.

Rising jet-fuel prices are a primary driver of these increased ticket costs. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported that jet-fuel prices doubled in March following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in late February. While airlines face these higher expenses, experts note that lower fuel prices may not result in immediate ticket price reductions.

To mitigate the rising costs of Disney vacations, some travelers are utilizing 'deal stacking' strategies. This involves layering multiple discounts, such as using annual passes for park discounts while simultaneously using specific credit cards to earn rewards or statement credits on those purchases.
