Disneyland chef Oscar Martinez loses benefits after being mistakenly marked deceased

Oscar Martinez, a 91-year-old retired Disneyland chef, has been left without medical insurance and retirement funds due to an administrative error that mistakenly recorded him as deceased.

Martinez, who was the longest-tenured cast member at Disneyland Resort upon his retirement in 2017, stated that Disney Benefits, Disneyland, Fidelity Investments, and Cigna erroneously marked him as dead on July 31, 2026. The error has persisted for nearly two months, leaving him without access to essential medications and hydration support.

His wife, June Martinez, reported that Fidelity Investments has begun issuing widow-benefit checks to her while her husband is still alive. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue through calls and emails, the family says the error remains uncorrected. Martinez noted that an offer to appear in person at Disneyland to prove his identity was declined by the involved organizations.
