Disneyland Resort experiences flooding from sudden heavy rain
Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, experienced significant localized flooding following a sudden, intense rainstorm on Friday evening. The heavy downpour, which lasted approximately 15 minutes, overwhelmed drainage systems in several themed areas, including Frontierland, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Fantasyland.
Videos from visitors showed water accumulating around the Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Matterhorn Bobsleds, turning walkways into streams. In Frontierland, water reached ankle depth near the Pioneer Mercantile and Shooting Exposition. Flooding also affected transportation hubs, specifically the tram stations at the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking lots.
Due to the risk of lightning and heavy winds, park management temporarily suspended all outdoor rides and canceled the evening fireworks display. Employees worked through the night to clear debris and unclog drains to prepare the resort for weekend visitors.
