Disney's Live-Action 'Moana' Set for July Release
Disney is preparing the worldwide theatrical debut of its live‑action adaptation of the animated hit "Moana" (known as "Vaiana" in some markets). The film stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as the Polynesian heroine Moana and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as the demigod Maui. It is directed by Thomas Kail, with production led by Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions alongside Dany and Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn.
A new preview released by Disney shows an action sequence in which Moana confronts the Kakamora, the coconut‑shell‑armored warriors from the original story. The movie is scheduled to open in cinemas in early July (July 8‑10, depending on region). Tickets for the Portuguese screenings are now on sale, and promotional material has been circulating in Brazil and other markets.
