Disney's 'Moana' live‑action debut prompts TV broadcast and Okinawa promo in Japan

Disney will release the live‑action version of "Moana" in Japanese theaters on 31 July 2026. To mark the launch, Nippon TV’s "Friday Roadshow" will broadcast the original 2016 animated film on 24 July from 21:00 to 22:59, with a five‑minute extended slot.

The Japanese dub features TSUZUMI (ME:I) as Moana and Oonoue Matsya as Maui, alongside a cast that includes Yabuki Tomona, Mari Natsuki and others. As part of the promotion, TSUZUMI performed the film’s signature song "How Far I’ll Go" live with a local choir at a special event in Okinawa, sharing her thoughts on the role and the upcoming movie.

Both the TV screening and the Okinawa event are tied to a nationwide campaign introducing TSUZUMI as the Japanese voice of Moana ahead of the 31 July theatrical release.
