Disney's Moana Remake Skips Post‑Credits Scenes as Title Changes Spark Debate in Italy

Disney released its live‑action adaptation of "Moana" on July 10, 2026, directed by Thomas Kail and starring Dwayne Johnson as Maui and Catherine Laga’aia as Moana. Unlike the 2016 animated original, the remake contains no post‑credits sequence. The film was produced with a budget estimated between $200 million and $250 million and opened in the United States and other markets without the extra scenes that fans expected.

In Italy, the movie was marketed under the title "Oceania" and the heroine was renamed "Vaiana" to avoid association with the late Italian adult‑film star Moana Pozzi and because the name "Moana" is trademarked in several European territories. Disney Italy’s marketing head confirmed the naming concern, and the same alternate title is used in France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
