Displaced families in Sudan and Gaza face severe food and health crises

Displaced populations in Sudan and the Gaza Strip are facing severe humanitarian crises characterized by acute shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.

In Sudan’s North Kordofan state, specifically in El Obeid, families in makeshift camps report extreme hunger and inconsistent water access. The International Organization for Migration noted that escalating violence in Kordofan has caused a 65 percent surge in displacement since October 2025. Sudan is currently described as the world’s largest displacement crisis, with nearly 19.5 million people facing crisis levels of acute food insecurity.

In the Gaza Strip, displaced families are enduring hazardous living conditions, with some residing in camps near garbage dumps. These environments have led to increased health risks, including scabies, allergies, and infections caused by flies and rodents. Shortages of medicine and the high cost of treatment have left many unable to access necessary healthcare for their children.
