Disputes emerge over Guinean football leadership and club representation
Legal and administrative disputes are surfacing within Guinean football regarding leadership roles and club management. In N’zérékoré, an official report from the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) has raised questions about Lamine Sylla’s authority over the Diani FC women’s team. While Sylla claims to represent the club through his role in the N’zérékoré Prefectural Football District, federation documents from December 2023 indicate he was elected as vice-president of the regional football league. Under current statutory rules, holding a position in the regional league is incompatible with maintaining responsibilities at the prefectural district level.
Separately, in Kindia, Gangan Football Club has issued a categorical denial regarding rumors of its support for Ibrahima Kalil Kaba’s candidacy for the presidency of the Guinean Football Federation. The club stated it has not taken an official position on the election and remains focused on its sporting objectives in the Ligue 2 championship. The club emphasized that any future decisions regarding the federation leadership will be made independently.
