Dissidents hold global protests marking CCP anniversary as day of mourning

Dissidents and activists worldwide held demonstrations on October 1 to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, designating the date as a ‘day of national mourning’ rather than a celebration.

Protests occurred in major global cities, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Sydney, New Delhi, Auckland, Berlin, and Taipei. In New York's Times Square, the National Committee of the Democratic Party of China held a memorial event to honor those who suffered or died under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) rule, specifically referencing historical events such as the Cultural Revolution and the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

In Sydney, gatherings were held at the City Hall, including a rally organized by the Australia-New Zealand Alliance of CCP Regime Victims. Notable figures such as law professor Yuan Hongbing and Professor Feng Chongyi, who serves as chairman of the aforementioned alliance, participated in discussions regarding the roots of suffering in China. The protests called for greater international attention to the treatment of dissidents and minority communities, advocating for democracy and an end to one-party rule.
