Distretto G water scheme progress marks turning point for local agriculture
Regional Councilor Nicola Morea has expressed satisfaction regarding the progress of the Distretto G water scheme, a project that has been pending for fifty years. The completion and equipping of this infrastructure are viewed as a turning point for territories ranging from Alto Bradano to Irsina.
The development aims to facilitate a transition from extensive to intensive agriculture, potentially establishing a competitive fruit and vegetable district to complement the region's traditional cereal production. Morea emphasized the need to ensure water coverage for all affected areas and called for the upgrading of the connection between Basentello and San Giuliano. Specifically, he advocated for a bidirectional hydraulic system to secure the Basentello valley floor and provide reliable water access for local farmers.
