Distrito Federal and Campos launch new public‑safety initiatives in Brazil

The Distrito Federal government introduced the DF 360 program, allowing owners of private CCTV systems to voluntarily register their cameras with the public security network. The aim is to expand video monitoring, enable faster police identification of incidents and reduce response times across the capital region.

In the city of Campos, officials rolled out the Centro Mais Seguro project, reinforcing the Municipal Guard with 24‑hour patrols, additional vehicles and community‑focused actions such as lighting and cleaning. Within hours of its launch, guards detained a 49‑year‑old woman wielding a knife at the municipal market, demonstrating the program’s immediate operational focus on deterring street violence.

Both initiatives reflect a broader Brazilian trend of integrating civilian resources and intensified municipal policing to improve public safety.
