Brazil 2026 Elections: Free Electoral Advertising Begins

Brazil's 2026 election cycle has entered a new phase as free electoral advertising on radio and television is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 28. The broadcasts will run through October 1, featuring 50 minutes of daily programming in blocks and 70 minutes of short advertisements. The distribution of airtime is determined by the size of political parties' delegations in the Chamber of Deputies.

Presidential candidates are intensifying their campaigns through media interviews, debates, and regional visits. Hertz Dias (PSTU) has advocated for the re-nationalization of strategic companies like Vale do Rio Doce. Romeu Zema (Novo) is promoting privatization and a new federal pact, while Ronaldo Caiado (PSD) has focused on urban pacification strategies.

At the state level, candidates are addressing regional priorities. In Minas Gerais, Alexandre Kalil (PDT) emphasized the need for basic security infrastructure before implementing body cameras. In Goiás, four candidates are set to participate in a televised debate. Meanwhile, in the Federal District, José Roberto Arruda (PSD) has pledged to complete the Recanto das Emas hospital and improve public transportation.
