Distrito Federal Education Secretary prioritizes 10,000-vacancy public exam

Thiago Peixoto, the new Secretary of Education for the Distrito Federal, has identified the implementation of a new public examination (concurso SEDF) with 10,000 vacancies as a priority for his administration. This commitment was made during a meeting with the negotiation commission of the Sinpro DF teachers' union.

The union is advocating for the replacement of temporary staff with permanent civil servants, noting that as of August 2026, there are 16,714 professionals working under temporary contracts. Additionally, the union is calling for the appointment of nearly 3,000 candidates already approved in previous selections and addressing 216 vacancies that were previously rendered void.

A legal opinion from the Procuradoria-Geral do Distrito Federal (PGDF) has indicated there are no legal impediments to opening the new examination during the electoral period. This allows the Secretariat of Education to potentially release the official notice by September.
