Distrito Federal samba school parades scheduled for August 20‑22

Negotiations between the Ministério Público do Distrito Federal e Territórios (MPDFT) and the Secretaria de Cultura e Economia Criativa are progressing to confirm the return of samba school parades in the Federal District. A meeting on 28 March between the Procuradoria Distrital dos Direitos do Cidadão and the culture secretariat addressed the government's actions to enable the events, which are set for 20, 21 and 22 August in Guará with 16 schools slated to participate.

Organisers acknowledge continued challenges after successive postponements and cuts to infrastructure funding. Prosecutor Eduardo Sabo said the MPDFT is monitoring the process to ensure cultural policy is upheld. Uniesbe‑DF president Gleidson de Sá affirmed the schools are ready pending final administrative steps, while director Pablo Claudino of Acadêmicos da Asa Norte highlighted the impact of budget reductions on logistics and costs. Despite financial constraints, schools have completed costumes and floats and are preparing hundreds of participants for the carnival celebrations.
