Distrito Nacional basketball tournament begins with Mauricio Báez vs San Carlos

The 50th edition of the Distrito Nacional Superior Basketball Tournament (TBS) begins this Tuesday at the Arena Banreservas Virgilio Travieso Soto. The opening matchup features Mauricio Báez against San Carlos.

Mauricio Báez, the current defending champion, seeks its fourth consecutive title. The team faces the challenge of playing without key player Juan Miguel Suero, who is currently under contract in Uruguay. Historically, Mauricio Báez holds 11 total titles, slightly ahead of San Carlos's 10.

Regarding the tournament's organization, there are calls for the eight participating clubs to provide greater support to the Asociación de Baloncesto del Distrito Nacional (Abadina) and the Organizing Committee. This includes more active promotion through social media, traditional news outlets, and local neighborhood campaigns. Additionally, clubs are encouraged to promote positive spectator behavior to ensure the tournament remains at the renovated Arena Banreservas facility.
