Ditur accepts 4.25 million kroner fine for misleading marketing

The Danish watch and jewelry company Ditur has accepted a fine of 4.25 million kroner following 26 instances of misleading price marketing. The company, owned by twins Kasper and Mikkel Dissing, was reported to the Consumer Ombudsman for violations occurring on its websites, ditur.dk and avile.dk.

A five-month investigation revealed that watches and jewelry were marketed with discounts that did not comply with regulations. Specifically, items were listed as being on sale for such extended periods that the sale price effectively became the normal price. In one instance, a necklace was marketed with a normal price of 599 kroner, despite having been sold for as low as 179 kroner in the preceding months.

Co-founder and CEO Kasper Dissing stated, “We lay ourselves flat. It is a mistake on our part, and we are sorry about it.” The company noted that the use of discount codes in influencer campaigns also contributed to the marketing errors. Ditur has admitted to all findings and is encouraging dissatisfied customers to contact them.
