Divadlo Drak premieres new horror staging of Krabata
Divadlo Drak in Hradec Králové has produced a new staging of "Krabata," based on the Lusatian legend by Otfried Preussler. Directed by Jakub Vašíček and dramaturged by Barbora Kamenická Pokorná, the production is described as a suggestive horror piece designed for older youth and adults.
The production utilizes elaborate acoustics and spatial sound, featuring music by Daniel Čámský, alongside a massive wooden set by Karel Czech. The performance integrates puppetry and live elements to create a dark, atmospheric setting reminiscent of a mechanical nativity scene.
Thematically, the play draws parallels between the historical legend and modern political contexts, touching on themes of invisible evil, paranoia, and totalitarianism.
