Diver Nermin Spahić rescues three people from stormy sea off Dubrovnik

On 27 July, strong winds and 7–8 metre waves threatened three beach‑goers in front of a Dubrovnik hotel. A Japanese tourist fell into the water, followed by a hotel employee and a local lifeguard, all unable to reach safety.

Nermin Spahić, a certified diver and rescue specialist from the Dubrovnik diving club, responded on a jet‑ski. He reached the victims one by one and ferried them to a nearby police boat, which could not approach the shore because of the waves. The rescue was completed in under 20 minutes, preventing a tragedy. Local authorities praised Spahić’s quick action and coordination with maritime police.
