Divers raise Indonesian flag underwater at Pulau Gede

To commemorate Indonesia's 81st Independence Day, the Rembang Regency branch of the Indonesian Underwater Sports Association (POSSI) conducted an underwater flag-raising ceremony at Pulau Gede on August 15, 2026.

Four divers, including two athletes and two officials, descended to a depth of approximately 10 meters to raise the Red and White flag. The event aimed to celebrate national independence while promoting the maritime potential of the Rembang region. The operation was supported by various local agencies, including BASARNAS, the Indonesian Navy, and local police, to ensure diver safety and coordination.
