Divers resume search for missing 19-year-old in Furlo reservoir

Specialized divers have resumed searches in the Furlo reservoir and the Candigliano River to locate Riccardo Branchini, a 19-year-old from Acqualagna who disappeared in October 2024. The search operation, commissioned directly by the family, involves two teams of divers scanning the area where Branchini’s car was previously discovered.

When his vehicle was found near the entrance to the Furlo hydroelectric plant, it contained his personal belongings, including his wallet, phone, and clothing. Despite previous efforts using sonar, no traces of the young man have been found. The family has previously requested that the dam be emptied and cleared of sediment to facilitate a more thorough search, though such requests have faced challenges regarding environmental impact and fish protection.

In May, the Pesaro Prosecutor's Office requested the dismissal of an investigation into potential incitement to suicide. The family's lawyer has requested that the public respect their privacy and avoid gathering in large groups during the search operations.
