Diverse human-nature encounters reported in Bosnia and California

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, fisherman Zoran Grubačić and Milosav Govedarica recently caught a seven-kilogram trout in Lake Klinje. Located near Gacko, the lake is a historic Austro-Hungarian artificial reservoir built between 1891 and 1896. The site features a 26-meter-high stone arch dam, which remains the largest of its kind in the Balkans.

In Southern California, residents Brian Gordon and Ricardo Martinez have adopted a policy of coexistence with the local brown bear population. Living near the Angeles National Forest in Monrovia, the couple has moved away from aggressive deterrents toward a peaceful arrangement where bears are permitted to use their pool and garden, provided they do not enter the home or disturb refuse.
