Divine app launches as AI-free successor to Vine

A new short-form video application called Divine has officially launched, positioning itself as the spiritual successor to the defunct platform Vine. The app features a scrolling feed of six-second looping videos and includes an archive of over two million original posts from the original Vine service.

Founded by former Twitter employee Evan Henshaw-Plath, known as Rabble, and backed by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, Divine distinguishes itself by strictly prohibiting AI-generated content. The founder stated the goal is to foster authentic, human, and creative experiences, expressing a desire to avoid the “mediocrity” often associated with AI-generated media.

The platform is built on the decentralized Nostr system, which theoretically allows users to maintain control over their accounts and content across different services. Divine has already reported approximately 100,000 users and recently announced its first brand partnership with Taco Bell.
