Divinópolis City Council approves new copper trade regulations
The Divinópolis City Council has unanimously approved Bill No. CM-90/2025, which implements stricter controls on the purchase and sale of copper, wires, and other recyclable materials. The legislation aims to curb the resale of stolen goods by requiring recycling centers, scrap yards, and junkyards to verify the origin of all acquired materials.
Under the new rules, establishments must register the identity and address of any individual selling materials, along with a detailed description of the products, quantities, and transaction dates. Failure to comply with these identification and documentation requirements can result in fines of up to R$ 10,000.
