Divinópolis officials impersonated in messaging app scams

In Divinópolis, criminals are using the names and photographs of municipal secretaries, specifically from the Government and Health departments, to conduct fraudulent activities via messaging apps. These scammers use fake profiles to impersonate public officials, attempting to trick victims into making unauthorized bank transfers and payments.

Authorities advise citizens not to make any payments or transfers without first confirming the identity of the contact through official channels. Residents are also warned not to click on links, provide personal or banking data, or share confirmation codes received via SMS. If a suspicious message is received, the recommendation is to immediately block the number and report the profile within the messaging application.
