Divorce rates climb in Zagreb County as July sees multiple baptisms

In 2025 Zagreb County recorded 1,456 marriages and 478 divorces, according to local data. Velika Gorica led the county with 277 weddings but also logged 82 divorces, placing it among the Croatian towns with the highest number of divorces. Across Croatia, 17,270 marriages and 5,674 divorces were registered, meaning roughly one in three marriages ends in divorce.

During July 2026 the Zagreb Archdiocese performed eight baptisms in various parishes. The ceremonies were conducted by auxiliary bishops and the late Cardinal Josip Bozanić, welcoming children such as Pavle, Marija, Josip, Marko, Julija, Ivan, Felicita and Magdalena into the church across parishes in Bestovje‑Novaki‑Rakitje, Zagreb, Stenjevac, Lupoglav and other locations.
