Divya Mittal launches Jan Niti Bharat party for 2027 UP elections

Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Divya Mittal has announced the formation of a new political party, Jan Niti Bharat. The party intends to contest the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Mittal, an alumna of IIT Delhi and IIM Bengaluru who previously worked as a Wall Street trader, resigned from her 13-year career in the IAS on August 30. She stated that the party’s ideology is built on public participation, need-based decision-making, and government accountability.

In a video message, Mittal outlined three core pledges: placing the public at the center of policymaking, ensuring decisions are made based on necessity rather than identity, and maintaining strict accountability to the citizenry. She emphasized a goal of creating a system where the government operates in alignment with public expectations.
