DIY air quality monitor developed for pollution tracking

Following a period where Zagreb's air quality was ranked among the worst globally, a DIY air quality monitor was developed to track local pollution levels.

The project began with the creation of a functional prototype using components sourced from AliExpress. To improve the design, a custom PCB was engineered to house the components within a compact, 3D-printed enclosure.

The final device, referred to as the ‘Air Quality Box’, integrates with Home Assistant. This integration allows for real-time data display and the automation of air purification systems, such as an IKEA air purifier, based on measured air quality levels.
