DIY methods to clean mold from shower joints and curtains

Silicone shower joints can develop black, red or brown stains from mold and soap residue. A simple paste of baking soda and water applied for about fifteen minutes, then gently scrubbed, removes light deposits without damaging the silicone. For more persistent mold, a small amount of hydrogen peroxide can be applied to the affected area.

Moldy shower curtains, often made of plastic or vinyl, can be refreshed without replacement by washing them in a washing machine at 30 °C. Adding two clean sponge towels and 100‑150 ml of white vinegar to the wash helps loosen soap film and mineral buildup, while a gentle cycle prevents deformation. The curtain can be re‑washed if spots remain.

Both techniques offer low‑cost, environmentally friendly alternatives to buying new bathroom accessories.
