Intel plans Moon Lake and Wildcat Lake Refresh processors

Intel is reportedly developing two new processor families aimed at the entry-level and ultra-low-power markets, both utilizing the Intel 18A manufacturing process.

Moon Lake is designed as an extremely efficient SoC, potentially replacing the Intel N-series. It is expected to feature a pure efficiency-core architecture consisting of four Darkmont-based LP-E cores with no performance cores (P-cores). This design targets a base TDP of 6W, with a configurable range up to 15W, making it suitable for compact, fanless devices, Chromebooks, and industrial applications.

In parallel, the Wildcat Lake Refresh will target the thin-and-light laptop segment. This series is expected to increase the maximum core count to eight, specifically four performance cores (Cougar Cove) and four efficiency cores. It will support the Intel vPro platform for enterprise use and offer a wider configurable TDP range from 10W to 35W. Both families are expected to use the BGA1516 package.
