Diyanet report examines religious sects in Turkey

A report prepared by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) in Turkey examines the historical background, transformations, and potential risks of various religious communities and sects following the 2016 coup attempt. The report highlights the non-transparent structures of these groups and warns of the need for measures to prevent the emergence of new organizations similar to FETÖ.

Regarding the Süleymancılar group, the report notes their activities are conducted through middle and higher education dormitories, private educational institutions, and Quran courses, funded by holdings and public donations. It mentions allegations of the group using the Diyanet name to collect aid and claims of a regional organizational structure referred to as ‘corps command’. The report also emphasizes the importance of investigating potential links to foreign intelligence services.

Additionally, the report examines Selefi-leaning groups, specifically mentioning Alparslan Kuytul and the Furkan Foundation. The findings suggest that these religious structures often operate within a cycle of trade, politics, and religious distortion for financial or political gain.
