Diyarbakır and Bingöl historical sites reopen after restoration

The General Directorate of Foundations has completed restoration, conservation, and reinforcement projects for several historical foundation works in Diyarbakır and Bingöl. A collective opening ceremony was held at the Sur Ali Paşa Mosque courtyard prior to Friday prayers to mark the return of these sites to active worship.

The ceremony was attended by Diyarbakır Governor Murat Zorluoğlu, General Director of Foundations Sinan Aksu, Provincial Mufti İsmail Fakirullahoğlu, and various local officials. Governor Zorluoğlu emphasized the importance of preserving the heritage left by ancestors and noted that the comprehensive maintenance of registered foundation works has expanded beyond national borders to reach broader cultural geographies.

The restored sites include the following:

In Diyarbakır: Sur Melik Ahmet Paşa Mosque, Sur Parlı Safa Mosque, Hani Cafer-i Tayyar Mosque and Tomb, Sur Ali Paşa Mosque, and Çermik Hanbaşı Mosque.
