Diyarbakır bus operators announce strike over rising costs

Private public bus operators in Diyarbakır have announced a strike due to rising operational costs. Members of the S. S. 53 Nolu Cooperative plan to halt services starting at 06:00 on Monday, September 14, by gathering in front of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department.

Fesih Kaya, President of the S. S. Öz Diyarbakır Private Public Bus Cooperative, cited significant increases in fuel prices and maintenance costs as the primary drivers for the action. Kaya noted that fuel prices have risen from 60 TL to 91 TL since the last rate adjustment, with expectations of further increases. The timing of the protest coincides with the start of the new academic year, potentially impacting students and commuters.
