Diyarbakır business leader calls for fair development in 2027 budget
Alican Ebedinoğlu, President of the Diyarbakır Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (DESOB), has issued a formal request regarding the 2027 central government budget. Ebedinoğlu emphasized that the budget should serve as a tool to reduce economic disparities between regions rather than merely addressing current needs.
Key demands include increased public investment to leverage the city’s agricultural, cultural, and entrepreneurial potential. Ebedinoğlu highlighted the need for improved transportation and logistics infrastructure, specifically requesting concrete timelines for high-speed train projects, improved road networks, and strengthened railway connections. He noted that enhancing trade with Iraq, Syria, and Iran through better border gate management could establish Diyarbakır as a major regional logistics hub.
Furthermore, the proposal calls for support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), improved infrastructure for organized industrial zones, and the completion of projects such as the Mesopotamia Industry and Trade Center (MOSTİM). Ebedinoğlu also stressed that economic and social development must accompany political processes to ensure long-term stability and job creation for the region’s youth.
