Turkish municipalities launch major infrastructure and road projects

Various municipalities across Turkey are implementing extensive infrastructure and transportation projects. In Kahramanmaraş, the metropolitan municipality is investing over 500 million TL in Elbistan for road and landscape improvements, while a 205 million TL project in the Mehmet Akif neighborhood has completed the installation of 15 kilometers of drinking water and 14 kilometers of sewage lines.

In İzmir, the metropolitan municipality has renewed 267 kilometers of roads over a six-month period, utilizing 524,000 tons of asphalt despite rising costs. Other regional updates include Karadeniz Ereğli’s 2026 asphalt program, which aims to lay 45,000 tons of hot asphalt, and Diyarbakır’s ongoing efforts to improve road durability in the Kayapınar district.

Water management and sewage upgrades are also priorities. In Muğla’s Datça district, a new 4,000-meter sewage line is being tested to serve 900 households. In Bursa, authorities are cleaning over 13,500 storm drains to prepare for autumn rains, and ongoing sewage projects in Osmangazi and Mudanya aim to prevent wastewater discharge into local streams. Additionally, Ankara is addressing long-standing flooding issues in Keçiören through significant drainage upgrades.
