Turkish police solve cold‑case murders, arrest suspects in Diyarbakır and Ağrı

Investigators in Diyarbakır’s Çınar district reopened a 2009 missing‑persons case involving Arif Uğurlu and Ceylan Aktepe. Technical and forensic analysis concluded the two were killed in a “töre” (honor‑related) murder. A specially formed task force carried out simultaneous raids in Diyarbakır, Mardin, Şırnak and Sivas, apprehending ten suspects; the victim’s father‑in‑law, identified as Ö. A., was detained and later sentenced to prison for “töre saikiyle öldürme.”

In a separate investigation, Ağrı authorities re‑examined the 2013 disappearance of Nesim B. The review of security‑camera footage, GNSS data and other records indicated he was murdered after being taken to the provincial centre. Coordinated operations in Ağrı, İzmir, Manisa and Konya led to the arrest of five suspects, who are now in custody pending trial. Both cases illustrate a renewed focus on solving long‑standing unsolved murders in Turkey through multi‑agency cooperation and extensive digital evidence analysis.
