Diyarbakır families resolve three-year feud

Two families in the Çermik district of Diyarbakır have reached a peace agreement, ending a three-year feud that began in 2023 over a dispute regarding livestock grazing. The conflict between the Yabanardı and Gürüz neighborhoods had previously resulted in one person being injured.

The reconciliation took place at the Gürüz Gendarmerie Station, facilitated by the mediation of Yusuf Kirvar, leader of the Kirvar tribe, alongside local officials including Çermik District Governor Adem Karataş, Mayor Şehmus Karamehmetoğlu, and Mufti Burhan Kızılarslan. During the ceremony, officials emphasized the importance of unity, brotherhood, and leaving a legacy of peace for future generations.
