Diyarbakır father‑son murder trial postponed to November

A court in Diyarbakır’s Sur district heard the second hearing of the case concerning the killing of 49‑year‑old Remzi Sati and his 15‑year‑old son Muhammet. Six witnesses and the lawyers for both sides appeared. The defendant, 25‑year‑old Ali Mert İldeniz, is charged with premeditated murder and faces aggravated life‑sentence requests. İldeniz participated in the hearing via the prison’s audio‑visual system and the court ordered that his pre‑trial detention continue.

The trial was adjourned to 3 November to allow the prosecution to remedy procedural deficiencies. Earlier, bodies burned in a truck were discovered on 19 May 2025, prompting arrests; several suspects were later released under judicial control, while İldeniz and other alleged participants remained in custody.
