Diyarbakır: Five arrested after fatal armed fight in Sur district

A fatal armed conflict erupted on August 19 at a business located on the old Mardin road in the Sur district of Diyarbakır. The incident, reportedly triggered by a dispute over debts, escalated from a verbal argument into a shooting.

Two individuals, identified as A. Ç. and Ş. B., lost their lives. One person died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries the following morning at the hospital. Six other people were wounded during the altercation and transported to Dicle University Hospital and Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital.

Following an operation by the Diyarbakır Police Department's Public Order Branch, eight suspects were detained. Of those referred to judicial authorities, five individuals—C. Ç., H. Ç., B. Ç., K. Ç. (a minor), and Ö. B.—were arrested and sent to prison. The remaining three suspects, M. Ö., R. Ö., and M. A., were released under judicial control.
