Diyarbakır health officials launch mobile dental services for children

The Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of Health is continuing its ‘Preventive Oral and Dental Health Project for Children’ for the 2024-2025 academic year. A mobile team of 50 dentists and health specialists works five days a week to provide screenings and education to primary school students.

In addition to schools, the mobile units provide services to rehabilitation centers and children's homes under the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. During the summer months, the teams also visited 1,237 mosques to reach approximately 38,500 students attending Quran courses.

To date, the project has conducted dental screenings for 106,420 children and provided oral health education to 389,837 children. The specialists use dental models to demonstrate correct brushing techniques and provide guidance on nutrition for dental health.
