Diyarbakır historic walls restoration sparks local backlash

Local merchants and residents in Diyarbakır are expressing frustration over the prolonged restoration of the city's historic walls. The ongoing construction has lasted for many years, negatively impacting tourism and local business activities.

Local shopkeeper Yunus Tatar reported that certain sections of the restoration do not align with the historical texture of the site, noting that materials other than the original natural stone have been used in some areas. Additionally, residents have raised concerns regarding security issues in the construction zones, which have remained fenced off for over a decade.
