Diyarbakır investigation launched into suspicious death of pregnant woman

An investigation is underway following the suspicious death of 23-year-old Nurcan Akpirinç in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır. Akpirinç, a mother of two who was two months pregnant, was found hanging in a guest room on the evening of June 20.

According to her family, Akpirinç had contacted her mother earlier that day after an argument with her partner, M. A., alleging infidelity and expressing a desire to return to her parental home. When her family visited the residence to check on her, they were told by her in-laws that she was not at home. Approximately two hours after the family left the premises, they were notified that Akpirinç had been found dead.

Akpirinç’s sister, Pınar Akpirinç, claimed that her sister had sent a message stating, “Pınar, my mother-in-law is going to kill me,” shortly before the incident. The family has filed a formal complaint against M. A. and his family, seeking justice and clarity regarding whether the death was a homicide or suicide. Autopsy results, including toxicological and histopathological examinations, are pending to determine the exact cause of death.
