Diyarbakır municipalities rehabilitate long-standing landfill site

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and Dicle Municipality have completed the rehabilitation of a landfill site in the 15 Temmuz neighborhood that had been used for wild waste disposal for approximately 15 years. The three-day operation aimed to eliminate environmental pollution, fire risks, smoke, and odor issues affecting nearby residential areas.

Under the new waste management system, household waste collected in the Dicle district will no longer be deposited at this site. Instead, waste will be transported to the Ergani Transfer Station and then to the Karacadağ Integrated Solid Waste Facility (EKAY) for environmentally safe disposal. The long-term goal of the project is to transform the rehabilitated area into a green park for public use, improving local living standards and reducing the carbon footprint.
