Diyarbakır police detain six suspects in 19-year-old murder case

Authorities in Diyarbakır and Batman have detained six suspects in connection with the 19-year-old unsolved murder of Erhan Kurt. Kurt was found dead by strangulation in the Hevsel Gardens area on September 21, 2007.

The case was reopened following the establishment of the Unsolved Crimes Research Department under the Ministry of Justice. New investigations, including the analysis of HTS and base station records, witness statements, and forensic evaluations, revealed contradictions in previous testimonies.

Among those detained are the victim's parents. Forensic reports indicate the death occurred 6 to 12 hours before the body was discovered. The investigation is ongoing as authorities review new evidence and communication records.
